Marion Carrington

Marion Carrington. 14th August 1931 to 6th February 2021

This is a sad, yet positive, announcement that my Mum, Marion, passed away peacefully in her care home.

She had been suffering from Dementia for some years and had spent nearly four years at Loganberry Lodge, after my Dad was unable to look after her at home. Throughout the majority of that time she was content and had a good quality of life. Having previously worked in a care home, there were days when she thought she still was. Sometimes she was "having an afternoon nap because she was doing a night shift". As the care home is big, she was able to walk about up and down the corridors. She would often say she had been "up town and had lunch at the Co-op, as they were doing free meals for pensioners that day". Another time she led a local uprising of the residents who demanded to be taken to the beach, leading them up and down the corridor shouting their demands! Some days the Dementia was less kind and the caring staff did their best to provide comfort for her.

The care home managed to allow her to be herself, giving her a loving, caring home in her final years and I really can't thank them enough. In the most challenging of environments they always had time to care. Thank-you

God Bless you Mum. May you rest in peace.
